Chapman looking for kidney donor – Yahoo! News UK

The funnyman suffers from sever hypertension and must undergo dialysis three times a week – but doctors informed the 505-pound (230-kilogram) star he would need to shape up before they could perform kidney replacement surgery.

Chapman, who plays Tracy Morgan's sidekick on the hit TV comedy, is now hoping to find a suitable organ donor after slimming down to 350 pounds (159 kilograms).

He tells US newsman Larry King, “When I first came down with the sickness (hypertension), I was 505 pounds. And they will not do the kidney transplant at that weight. So I had to bring myself down to a reasonable weight, anywhere from 300 to 350 pounds, in order to have the kidney transplant. I'm actually right now at 350.

“Now it's just a process of getting the right person to donate the kidney because, being that I'm a larger man, I just can't take a smaller person's kidney. Everybody's kidney is the size of their fist and I have a pretty big fist. So I'm going to need a pretty decent sized kidney.”

His 30 Rock co-star and close friend Kevin Brown is hoping he'll be a match – and he's offered his support by joining in Chapman's battle to get healthy.

Brown adds, “I have absolutely considered it (donating a kidney). We've really just got to see, you know. We've got to see if I'm healthy enough, because, you know, Grizz (was) over 500 pounds when we met. And that was in 2006 when we first met doing the pilot of 30 Rock.

“We both had problems with our weight. I wasn't as heavy as he was, but for him to get down and lose 150 pounds was very impressive. And I wanted to join him in his struggle to lose the weight. So I recently started (diet program) NutriSystem just so I could lose the weight and give him that moral support (to say), 'Hey, you're not the only one trying to lose the weight, I'm trying to lose it.'”

Some Useful Weight Loss And Weight Management Ideas

If you are keen to lose weight, and/or reach a healthy weight for your height and build, here are a few useful and realistic rules that I would encourage you to consider:

Body weight Evaluation

The Body Mass Index (BMI) is the generally accepted measure of body fat against muscle (lean body mass). It is not a precise measurement and often does not take into account those with extremely muscular physiques, but as a ball park figure to evaluate your weight it is useful. A Brief search on the internet will find you an online BMI calculator.

Gradual Weight Loss not Rapid Weight Loss

The ‘lose 30 pounds in 30 days’ weight loss plans that seem to continuously circulate looking for new victims should be avoided at all costs. Dependent on the amount of weight you need to lose, the generally accepted percentage loss is 10% of your body weight in a 6 month period, and this is what you should be aiming for. If you aim to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week, you will manage your weight loss in a sustainable manner and are far more likely to keep it off for the long term.

Encourage Your Children to Maintain Healthy Weights

Everyone knows the saying that overweight children become overweight adults. In most cases it is true, and one of the great gifts you can give your children is to teach them to eat healthy food and to be physically active. It will serve them well in later life.

Before you Begin a Weight Loss Program – Speak with Your Doctor

Consulting one’s doctor is a good idea for those about to begin a weight loss plan. This is particularly true if you are a pregnant woman or are currently nursing a child. If you have a chronic disease or are on medications, you should also consult your doctor. It’s a good precaution to take, and he/she may be able to offer good advice or resources to help you in your quest.

It’s certainly a big decision starting on a new weight loss plan. Excitement, anticipation, a little bit of fear and apprehension. but by following the basic steps one can reach one’s goals and gain self esteem and confidence in the process.I hope these basic tips will encourage you to begin on a sensible weight loss program and assist you in making the right decisions be

Losing weight in a healthy way

People are getting fatter. The fact is, between 1988 and 2009, the waist circumference has continued to rise according to a recent obesity analysis. The Center For Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion out of Atlanta has discovered that an average woman’s waist today is almost the same size as a man’s waist 15 years ago.

Here are some weight loss myth that most people don’t know about. Losing 10 pounds in 1 week is not hard but you need to know the right way to do it. There are some myth about weight loss that I hear people say.

1. Weight loss stops weight gain

Many people think that if they can lose pounds, they can stop their bodies from gaining weight. This is absolutely false because there are tons of cases that people lose weight and gain all the pounds back when they start eating unhealthy again. During my career as a personal trainer, I see lots of cases like this happened to my students.

2. Carbs are bad

It’s true that some cabs are bad, but o say that you have to avoid all carbs at all cost is simply wrong. Processed carbs are bad especially if you eat them in the evening, but couple times during the week before 7 o’clock is fine.

You also need to identify between processed carbs and whole food carbs. Consuming whole food carbs in early morning can be great for your body as it gives you more energy and strength. Try to avoid bad carbs from sugar and replace them with good carbs from leafy vegetables and fruits.

3. Cutting calories can give you a long term weight loss

Actually cutting calories often results in long term weight gain. Give yourself a moment to consider the reality of what is known as “energy homeostasis” and you will readily see this is true. Energy homeostasis is a term that describes the many systems your body has to regulate how much energy (or food) you eat. Cutting calories may not help you burn flab abs if you don’t also exercise and eat healthy.

4. How to lose 10 pounds in 1 week without giving up bad foods

It is almost impossible to lose 10 pounds in 1 week without changing the way you eat. Many people wants to lose weight fast but they can’t resist french fries or sweets. Your body system is used to the way you eat, the food you eat, and the amount of foods consumed. The best way to change your body is to change the food.

Change your food diets. Change the way you eat “healthy” food and exercise. Follow this complete guide to lose 10 pounds in 1 week and get rock hard lean abs and body.
